Navarrete

8 oktober 2015 - Navarrete, Spanje

At 8am the sun is not quite up yet. I took some pictures leaving Viana. It was still cool but it promises to be a good day for walking. After some km we entered the Rioga region. This is known for the Rioga wines. We continued to pass vineyards. Sometimes we pick up a bunch of grapes which have fallen from the vine. The grapes are small and dark blue. They taste great. We walked the 9 km to Logrono. The arrows pointed us around the town centre, which we discovered later. However, we met our friend Joel from the States who was enjoying his coffee outside a restaurant on a square. We joined him. We wanted to move on. I took a couple of pictures of the different signs to show the Way. After a while we came to a beautiful park. We had our lunch beside the lake and Doug was feeding the squirrel. Apparently this was an outdoor education centre and we saw three classes of elementary school children pass by. Eventually we arrived in Navarrete, our stop for the day. Around 2pm we checked in the hostel. After installing ourselves we went to see the place and found Wendy sitting on the patio next door waiting for Joanne. Wendy has serious problems with her knee and she had arrived by bus. Eventually Joanne joined us for a drink. Doug set off to buy some food to cook that night. He came back without a shopping bag. He had encountered a German fellow who had started his own hostel five months ago and offered a good three course meal including wine for ten euro a person. We decided to go and check it out. It turned out to be excellent! We took our time to enjoy the dinner and were rather late to return to the hostel.

How are your feet doing, with all the walking? Is it noisy in the hostels for sleeping?

Great experiences! It doesn't sound like you are finding it hard yet!?
